This Week's Featured Artists:
DOUG MACEACHERN
Having played in a number of bands ranging from rock, country and top 40s covers, Doug has found his solo voice and developed a guitar playing and singing style that lends itself well to his burning desire to write songs and tell stories. His current creations have a country/country rock flavour and are introspective and soul searching songs that most people can relate to.
BEN SURES
A veteran of the contemporary folk and roots music scene, and often featured on CBC, Ben’s performances are energetic and humourous. He easily connects with his audiences with a seldom duplicated sense of intimacy that draws the listener inextricably into the folds of his melodic story telling. Sures won an award in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Competition in 2005, for his song "Any Precious Girl", evidence of his strong songwriting skills and originality. While Ben's voice has been compared to Paul Simon, and his songwriting has been compared to Sarah Harmer and Greg Brown, his talent has truly made him a brilliant and outstanding gem in the diamond mine of the Canadian music scene.
